Mental Health & Wellbeing
We are delighted that Oakwood Primary School continues to take part in a national programme that aims to make mental health support more available for children when they need it.
This programme is called Young Minds Matter.
We are one of the 72 schools from Cheltenham, Gloucester and the Forest of Dean, that are working with the NHS in Gloucestershire to introduce Mental Health Support Teams into schools.
This means that we are known as a Trailblazer school.
As a Trailblazer school we can access specialist advice and support from Young Minds Matter.
This means that we can support our pupils during life's ups and downs.
This may include times of worry, changes in behaviour, feelings of anxiety or low mood.
The Mental Health Support Team can work with children experiencing difficulties on a one to one basis and will also provide support for parents and teachers. When necessary they may need to link up with other services in Gloucestershire to ensure that children are receiving the best support possible.
If you have any questions or concerns or would like to make a referral to Young Minds Matter please speak to your child's class teacher or contact Mrs Oddie.
Remember it is really important to look after our mental health and wellbeing. It is only natural to feel worried or unsettled at times but if this prevents us from functioning or feeling like ourselves for too long, it is really important to speak to someone.
Please don't suffer in silence!
